Newberrytown, PA (November 10,
2012) – The Final Showdown for the Super Sprint Cars at the
Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday afternoon, November 10
went to Don Kreitz Jr. of Sinking Spring for the second year
in a row. Etter’s Pat Cannon also took the 358 Sprint Car
portion as well claiming the 20-lap feature event.
From the outside the front
row, Chad Layton took the early lead of the 30-lap Super
Sprint Car feature event. Mechanical failure forced Layton
to the pit on the third circuit, relinquishing the lead to
Brian Montieth. Montieth led the next 13 laps weaving in
and out of lapped traffic until Danny Dietrich who started
sixth, moved past Montieth to take the lead on lap 16. The
next lap, the red flag flew with three cars getting together
in turn three as Billy Dietrich rolled. During the red flag
period, Montieth was forced to the pit area with a flat
tire, forcing him to the rear at the next restart. When
the race was restarted, Dietrich led over Greg Hodnett and
Brent Marks. On lap 23, Donnie Kreitz Jr. moved from a
tenth place starting spot and into the runnerup spot. As
Dietrich maneuvered through lapped traffic, Krietz closed
the gap considerably and took the lead on lap 29. Before
the checkered could be thrown, the red flag flew once again
setting a one-lap shootout for the race. At the finish,
Krietz held on for the win over Dietrich. Hodnett finished
third with Marks and Mark Smith rounding out the top five.
Heat race wins went to Danny Dietrich, Adam Wilt and Brian
Montieth. Hunter Mackison won the consolation event.
In the 20-lap 358 Sprint
Car feature, Ryan Greth took the lead from the outside front
row starting spot. However, on lap 4 Greth jumped the
cushion and last year’s Showdown winner Pat Cannon scooted
by to take the lead. Cannon set sail to lead the final 15
circuits to take the win over polesitter Josh Beard. Doug
Hammaker finished third with Matt Horst taking the fourth
place position on the final lap from Billy Pauch Jr. Pauch
settled for fifth at the end. Qualifying heat race winners
were Dale Hammaker, Doug Hammaker, and Cris Eash. Nathan
Snyder won the consolation race.
